Don’t miss in September

Summer is over. Well, if you can call it a summer, given that we had 10 days at max of nice weather. Some of you (the lucky ones) are just about to head of somewhere nice and hot (at an affordable price) whilst the rest of us are back at the office worrying about how we’ll pay off the credit card balance we managed to build up during our holiday..

So we are forced to lock up our credit cards tight for at least a month i.e. not eating out; not meeting friends for cocktails; not even attending exhibitions or design events. This last is quite a shame because September is the month for so many art & design events worth attending, if only to keep in touch with the latest trends and directions.

In the London Design Festival post we’ll try to guide you to those events that are free (or very affordable) and you definitely shouldn’t miss! Meanwhile, here are a couple of things that might interest you:

Serpentine Gallery Pavilion 2008

This year’s Serpentine Gallery Pavilion in Kensington Gardens is built by Frank Gehry - his first built project in London. It’s open to the public until the 19 October and even if you’re not a great fan of Gehry - this is a must!

Inspirations for free

The British museum, Tate Modern and the V&A are free to visit. They can always provide inspiration and create ideas - so if you’re stuck in your design (and skint) just go to one of these museums to revitalise your creative energy-flow!

Birth of High-Tech Britain

This is another free (and very interesting) exhibition at the Science Museum which investigates technological development since the Second World War. It’s well worth having a look at, particularly if you are inspired by retro!
